At the “Ambiente Lavoro” Fair, the theme of safety.

Fmpi: “A pact between government, enterprises and trade unions.”
The twenty-second Ambiente Lavoro Fair ended yesterday in Bologna, a three-day series of meetings during which experts in the field took stock of occupational injuries and illnesses by charting all prevention activities in the workplace.
Fmpi, the Federation of Medium and Small Enterprises, participated with its own booth holding a series of thematic meetings held by Professor Natalino Priscoglio, assisted by Fmpi National Executives Anna Sorrentino, Diana Ciotu and Susy Panico, all experts in occupational health and safety.
‘Training in safety means avoiding tragedies, working in peace and working for the community,’ says Priscoglio, ‘and we at Fmpi are very sensitive to this issue by dedicating so many hours to higher education.’
Labor and safety, the contribution of the Federation of Medium and Small Businesses
‘Already for some time we have proposed an articulated motion on safety at work,’ says Antonina Terranova president Fmpi, ‘and therefore it is necessary that in addition to controls, a National Register of “experts in safety at work” should be established and the defiscalization of business investment in related safety training should be initiated.
“In Italy, despite good legislation, the white slaughter that has already caused 800 deaths in the first eight months continues,” is what Salvatore Ronghi, Director General of Fmpi, says. “What is needed,” Ronghi continued, “is a pact between government, businesses and unions to put in place those necessary measures not only for real training but also to avoid unfair competition. We are thinking of the exclusion from public funding of those companies that do not comply with safety standards, but also a quality label for those who fully apply the standards.”
